Get Pests Out of Your Chimney in Time for Santa’s Arrival

Get Pests Out of Your Chimney in Time for Santa's Arrival   Wood-burning fireplaces are an excellent way to escape the blustery weather – after all, few things are more enticing than snuggling up with a cup of hot cocoa in front of a roaring log fire – but they also give pests a chance to find a way into your home.   Raccoons, squirrels, opossums, and other animals can occasionally enter homes through chimneys in search of a denning site, where they can keep warm during winter and raise their babies until spring. Most Commercial Ultrasonic Pest Repellers, Useless against Home Invasions   Wouldn’t it be great if all you had to do to get rid of household pests was plug in a $10 device and wait? No need for spraying toxic pesticides or setting up poison traps to drive nuisance animal and insect pests out of your home or garden. This is the appeal of using one of the many ultrasonic pest repellers that have invaded the market over the past decades. If It’s Recreational Season, It’s Stink Bug Season: Know Your Enemy
Posted By: Daniel Mackie
Stink Bug Season Long a pest in Eastern Asia, the shield-shaped brown marmorated stink bug has finally made its way into the U.S. and Canada. It was first discovered in Pennsylvania in the late 1990s, but soon made its appearance in Canada, as well (the first bug was detected in Hamilton, in 2012). Since then, sightings of the bug have been reported all over Canada, including Ontario, Ottawa, Vaughan, Windsor, Niagara-on-the Lake, Fort Erie, and several other municipalities.   Why Should We Fear It?   While the stink bug doesn’t bite or sting humans and causes no structural or esthetic damage to properties, it is considered a nuisance pest due to the fact that it feeds on a wide variety of vegetable crops, fruit trees, and ornamental flowers. Their initial menu is comprised of grass and weeds, but as they grow older, they move into crops (sorghum, field corn, soybeans, and cotton) and orchards.
